Train to Teach
At Beckfoot, our school motto is “Enjoy - Learn – Succeed”. Our students are at the heart of all we do, and we want to train teachers who are committed to these values.
The Beckfoot School Direct Partnership is a collaboration between all schools in the Beckfoot Trust (Primary, Secondary and Special), and Immanuel College. All schools are located within a 20 minute drive of Beckfoot, making planning and experiencing placements easier. Click here to view the location of our schools

The Beckfoot School Direct Provision

Applications will open in October 2020 for courses beginning in September 2021.
Primary - The Beckfoot School Direct Partnership offers up to 12 places each year for highly qualified graduates looking to train within the Primary.
Secondary Subjects - The Beckfoot School Direct Partnership offers up to 30 places each year for highly qualified graduates in the following subjects: English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Studies, Computer Sciences, Modern Foreign Languages, Religious Studies, Geography, History, Art & Design, Music, Design and Technology and Physical Education.
Accredited training – The qualification gained is Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a PGCE qualification from Leeds Trinity, Leeds Beckett University or Bradford Birth-19 SCITT. Retaining the academic rigor of postgraduate study carries 60 credits towards a Masters degree.
Hands on experience – From day one trainees are immersed in school life, gaining experience and reflecting on learning. Trainees work with outstanding colleagues in classrooms on placements in different schools, and experience special school at Hazelbeck. Extra time can be spent in Hazelbeck, strengthening the trainees awareness of inclusion and the unique skill sets of special school teachers. Trainees very quickly get to know and become part of our school and student communities; ensuring them to feel comfortable and confident in this environment.
Individual support and personalised professional development – Trainees are supported from the point of acceptance, and offered opportunities to gain additional school experience. We provide individual mentoring from Beckfoot throughout the year, at placement schools, and from the host University. We provide a formal training programme following a structured career framework, customised to individual requirements.
Excellent future employment opportunities – On successful completion, trainees will be confident, student-centred, reflective teachers, and will hopefully take up a position within Beckfoot Trust.
