We are delighted that the 3rd annual Beckfoot Trust Conference is taking place on November 29th 2019. All staff and invited guests will explore the theme, No Child Left Behind, Transforming life chances and strengthening communities, a key element of our Creating Remarkable Schools Vision that can be found here http://www.beckfoottrust.org/?p=62808
Across our country children from poorer backgrounds are finishing a year and a half behind their peers by the end of their GCSE’s according to the Education Policy Institute’s annual state of education report. Indeed, between 2017 and 2019 the gap has widened. There are also vast discrepancies based on where children live, their ethnicity and special educational needs (SEND). Over a third of Beckfoot Trust students are on the Pupil Premium Register and a fifth have a special educational need (SEND).
If we are to make good our vision to create a group of remarkable schools we have to identify approaches for use across our Trust that will address these inequalities and ensure that all our young people can fulfill their academic and social potential so that no child is left behind.
The focus of the 2019 Annual Conference is to put flesh on the key priorities identified within our Trust Remarkable Schools Strategic Vision. Priorities which we collectively believe, if implemented properly can have a meaningful impact on addressing these inequalities. We hope that the day will provoke and inspire new thinking and celebrate our achievements to date.
We are privileged to have Rt Hon David Laws, Shirley Congdon and Shakeel Dad speaking at the event. There will be workshops from 50 Things to do Before Your are 5, Voice 21, Unifrog and Vespa and The Learning Crowd, as well as presentations from Born In Bradford and Child Development experts. There will be student performances and a marketplace of professional partners to Beckfoot Trust.
We are looking forward to welcoming so many of our colleagues to share the day with us.
