Design note 4 - what do we mean?
In addition to the similarities between our new icon and the real Northern Lights, we particularly liked some of the themes the Northern Lights icon represented, namely:

We are delighted to share that colleagues from across our Trust have two forthcoming publications, contributing their expertise to national conversations in education.
From Beckfoot School, staff members Nikki Sullivan, Kelly Heaton, and Lucy Lowde have co-authored a book exploring the role of Oracy in the classroom. Drawing on cognitive science, it demonstrates how spoken language can secure attention, enhance understanding, and support retrieval. The book also offers strategies for embedding Oracy across school life to develop debating skills, respectful dialogue, and student confidence.
Meanwhile, Katie Little, SENCo at Beckfoot Allerton, has written a practical guide for supporting children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Her book provides strategies to help teachers better meet the needs of learners with DLD and ensure they thrive in the classroom.
We are extremely proud of our colleagues for their achievements and their contribution to national research and debate.
